good fishing on sam rayburn
went to rayburn to do some fishing yesterday. went with a buddy and met karl at the ramp.....he got lost again red!!!!!!!!!! lol lol lol
we caught a BUTT load of fish but only had 5 keepers by 0830. i ended up culling and my buddy had 4. caught fish all day. used buzzbaits, pico pops, rattle traps, sencos, the hard baits were firetiger in color and motoroil red flake for soft plastics. put it on the trailer about 1630. karl was having the same luck....i will let him expand on that!! a great time was had!!!!!

Rayburn sure was a blast, once I found the ramp, LOL. I set the GPS to get me to Zavalla & figured the rest would be a no brainer, I ended up turning around twice. But NOW I know!
Top water plugs at daylight started catchin em & that didn't stop until noon. It went from chuckin to submerged brush to target fishing the boils. I used a Pop'r clone in some sort of a quazi-halfassed Tennessee Shad color but the way they were hittin I think I coulda used a chunk of pine bark. Had tons of shorties and several keepers but I sent them all back cuz my wells have been fish killers lately (gotta work on those). I switch to soft plastics after getting bored with catching the little ones, hoping for a change in size, Fnd the only big fish was a good sized blue cat. It wasn't even hooked, just hung onto the Smokin Shad Super Fluke until I got it boatside, showed it's double fisted head, smiled & let go... weird. I ended the day switching to Red's 9" Junebug TexTail hoping, again, for a bigger return but got one 12"-13" bass after another.
All in all it was a terrific day on the water. Got to get out with a friend, met Tom (great guy) and got to learn Big Sam a little bit. It was sure worth playing hooky for

That's a good day right there. I went yesterday too but spent most of my time putting hours and breaking in the new motor..
